Snow Days: For weekday Clinics, if the School buses for the Orangeville Area are cancelled, please consider that clinic session cancelled. Weekend Sessions will be evaluated based on the expected weather conditions at 8-12 hours prior to the clinic occurrence, and an email will be sent to the clinic participants, no later than 8 hours prior to the clinic. If the clinic is not cancelled at that time, but there are still concerns about approaching weather, an additional email will be sent at 1 hour prior to the Clinic start time. If there is threatening weather, please check your email and/or Facebook up to an hour prior to the clinic. (A cancelled clinic will also be announced on the Smooth Running FB profile). Both the in-class portion and the run will be cancelled in this situation, for the safety of the participants. Snow days may be “made up” if there is space in the schedule, or substituted as a “Question and Answer Session” via email if no space is available. If possible, the run may be re-scheduled for an alternate date.
Extreme Cold: Clinics may be cancelled in the event of extremely low temperatures or high windchill. Please see the below graph for the thresholds we use to determine what is "too cold" for outdoor activity. If possible, the run will be “made up” at a later date.
Extreme Heat: Clinics may be cancelled in the event of extremely high temperatures or high humidity. Any clinic occurring in a period of this type of weather will be evaluated at the end of the in-class portion, prior to running. If possible, the run will be “made up” at a later date.
Thunderstorms: Due to the danger of lightning strikes, no runs will be held in a thunderstorm. As thunderstorms may develop with little or no warning, any clinic with the possibility of threatening weather will be evaluated at the end of the in-class portion, prior to running. If possible, the run will be “made up” at a later date.
Any clinic may be cancelled at the discretion of the instructor (or agent of Smooth Running Fitness) if the weather or road conditions are deemed to be unsafe, or a danger to the participants. These cancellations are deemed to be to the benefit of the participants and are not subject to returned Clinic fees under any circumstances.
